Whether it’s a Learning Management System (LMS), a Content Management System (CMS) or bespoke Application Development, Coloni has always delivered for the RAC.

The RAC have worked with Coloni Ltd for over 6 years on a number of diverse projects, ranging from data collection tools to Enterprise wide bespoke knowledge management systems.

Due to the unique nature of their users (usually at the side of a road, in bad weather conditions or helping customers). We have always designed and adapted our systems to meet the specific needs of RAC “in-vehicle” systems. By running workshops with the Patrols at the onset of the project, we are able to design systems that make their job easier, rather than adding to their workload.

One of our most significant on-going projects, combines many of Coloni Ltd's products, and our hosting environment, to deliver the Roadside Browser system, which Patrols use for all aspects of their daily work. We have created a touch-screen environment, which allows Patrols to quickly access technical data about vehicles, even before they arrive at a customer breakdown. The system automatically preloads the specific data for that vehicle callout, saving the Patrol and the customer valuable time.

As the Patrol could be out of network range for 3G and GPRS, we have designed the system to work on the client system, installed in the van, which runs updates on a scheduled basis. At RAC, vehicle information is constantly collected from manufacturers, and directly from Patrols, and fed back into the knowledge base via a bespoke version of Content Manager, allowing Patrols to share knowledge and vehicle fix techniques.

The solution also incorporates Leaning Manager, which is able to deliver training to the patrols, during those quiet periods between callouts, storing information back to the central Knowledge Management system against the Patrol's personal training profile.
